OK... so this is a funky build I know...
Frame: I chose this frame because I am tired of paying for ~$100 frames. This frame is a $20 frame with sets of replaceable arms for $5.99. It is styled similar to the classic QAV-R/Alien/AstroX... The carbon is decent and comes pre-camphered. IMPORTANT: this frames camera mount is too thin for a runcam swift or RR version, the mini arrow from foxeer fits it perfectly.
FC: I had this omnibus F4 lying around that I was going to put on a racer last year, never got around to using it. Downside is I didn't use a 4-in-1 esc so I need a pdb, which I had an armattan pdb lying around from when I got my chameleon a while ago.
ESC: I like spedix. Good quality and price is right.
Motors: I got two sets of steele motors when I built my rooster. I was going to try to fleet out on the rooster frame, but I can get 4-5 frames for the price of one...so yeah... steele motors are going to go on the eclipses.
FPV Stuff: The foxeer mini is the correct width to fit into the camera mount on this frame, and is also big enough to fit a gopro style lens for wider fov. I like and trust the TBS unify HV...
RX: XM+ is the goto frsky rx, I have a few lying around already. I will probably upgrade to a TBS nano crossfire rx at some point, but for now this works.
GoPro Couch Mount: Contact BMC3D and he can print you out one that fits the eclipse. I had him make me some 30deg and 42deg couch mounts for this frame. note that there isn't a good place to velcro for a foam style mount, so a 3d printed mount just for the strap to hold the gopro is needed. I highly recommend BMC3D, the print is super high quality and super fast to get me this part on a custom order.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
