Wasp110

Having built only three other quads and all being 5 inch I thought I would try something smaller. After looking at a bunch of flight footage of other members builds I deicided to go with 2.5 inch props.

I tired picking componets with the idea of keeping weight low. Ended up choosing 1402 motors over 1106 with hopes of getting a little more time out of each pack. They also had a small weight reduction of about a gram per motor.
Saw the Caddx EOS2(3.5 grams) and thought the weight gain compared to micro predator v3(5.5 grams) was worth giving it a try.
After watching bench thrust test for the 1402 8100kv motors I was a little unsure if the Emax mini magnum 12 amp esc would be enough juice. Ended up pulling the trigger because of the price.
I had seen Kentic Ariel's vector frame and was impressed by the quality. Saw the wasp110 in there line up and that it could mount 2.5 inch props and was sold.
Didn't think camera mounting through when buying Caddx EOS2. The space and screw holes in the canopy fit a micro swift great, but the EOS2 is much narrower. I had seen a whoop build that used a zip tie cut in the middle to mount the camera. I Was afraid I would have a bunch of jello, luckily don't. Had the VTX03 from the first quad I had built and it fit well stuck to the back of the camera.
Weight without battery is 80 grams. A few grams higher than I hoped, but it still flys well. Getting about 3:30 minutes on a tattu 3s 450 mah battery.

This is one of my fav builds of all time, it's SO well laid out/thought out. I love the hex cutouts in your pod. I love the lightweight look, I hope those 1402's are strong. Would you indulge a thirsty kwad addict with some dvr?

Sure! I'll record my next flight to post. It might be couple of days though because of snow and rain where I live.

I used to think those 1402 would be better on 3" than 2.5". Are they punchy? Nice Build btw!

Thanks! Before building I saw a bunch ultralight 3 inch builds using the 1402 and they seemed to perform great. Although honestly I was suprised at how much power they have. Maybe will get some 1106 motors to see if the top end of the throttle is worth it.

oOooooOoOo but surely 1402 would be more effecient. Thanks for the reply!!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
