UPDATE: DO NOT BUY THIS FRAME. don't do it. trust me. on maybe my 4th or 5th pack , I was cruising about 3-4 feet above the ground, and I realized my battery was at like 3.2 a cell and I hadn't noticed. I immediatly killed the motors figuring that a drop from that height onto gravel wouldn't do anything, but I snapped an arm and the plastic canopy cracked. Do not buy this frame. I built this out into a tadpole, and even with the 2mm carbon it has survived much tougher crashes. also, don't waste your time with 2 inch. the jump to 2.5 is worth it. If you dial it back to the speed and feel of a two inch, the flight times are way longer. medium freestyle with 2.5x1.9x3 I was getting nearly 7 minutes.
after spending a lot fo time with 5 inches, I decided I wanted to get into more of the micro scene. After my acrobrat build, https://rotorbuilds.com/build/23969 I wanted something new
After flying a TinyHawk 2 and tinywhooping around my backyard for a while, I wanted something that was a little faster, but still was able to fit through the tiny gaps that make tinywhoops fun. I decided that a 2" would work well.
The frame is a diatone gt-r249 frame. Its light, has enough room for 3 boards, and can fit up to a 19x19 camera. I considered the driblet for this build, but it was just to heavy, and I couldn't justify the weight. For the stack, I went with a succex-e stack from iflight. It supports 35a continuously, so its huuuuge overkill for this build, since on 2x1.9x3 props on 3s i draw a max of about 5.5 amps. The reason I did it was because I had it laying around and I didnt want to pay for an AIO board when I didn't have to. I didn't have plans for it anytime soon, so this was a fine build for an inexpensive stack. Running at only 50 bucks, I dont really trust the 35a rating, so on a low draw build like this, its totally fine.
For the camera, I wanted to use a caddx ratel I had, since it's my favorite camera, but it didn't quite fit in the canopy, so I ended up using a caddx ant with a 19x19 adapter. I might try to cram the ratel in there later, but i was anxious to fly it so I just used what I had lol. Honestly, the caddx ant image quality is pretty good, especially for a 15 dollar camera. It was all frosty when I went for my first flight, and I was all mad bc I thought the camera was crappy, but turns out I left the clear plastic lens protector on lol. smooth move right?
I honestly don't know what Vtx i am using, It is just one I had, goes up to 200 mw, has a little dipole direct soldered on the back, nothing fancy.
For motors, I am using betafpvs 1105 5000kv. I really like these motors, they seem smooth, punchy enough so I am not disappointed, but tame enough to get decent flight times. they were like 10 bucks each too, so I didn't break the bank.
Receiver is an XM+, since I use a qx7 it was either that or an rxsr. and xm+ was cheaper, so thats what i went with.
Now on to the actual build process. The build itself was pretty tough. this frame is roomy, but not THAT roomy. I had some troubles finding places to mount the vtx. I could have mounted the XM+ underneath the camera on the part of the frame, But then the antennas were suuuper long. I mounted the receiver up on a plate above the FC, which left no room for the vtx. I ended up just electric taping it to the top of the plastic canopy. Eventually I plan to add a rush tiny tank, and when I do I'll remount the xm+ lower by the camera and then I wouldnt have the put the vtx on the canopy, but on the stack. In the pictures you can see the really crappy way I mounted the rx antennas. It's just because I ran out of heat shrink and I am waiting for it, but I didn't want to leave them flopping around during my test flights.
I am started with some 2x1.9x3 avan prop, and honestly I dont really like them. I think I need steeper pitch props, or maybe even go up to 4 blade. I have got some others to try, and Ill record the results in this post later.
the 3s 550s Im using work good, it would probably fly a little better with a 450, but the 550s are nothing to complain about.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
