I really want a quad that I can fly indoors (possibly on 1S or 2S) and then take it to the back yard and have enough thrust to work on tricks when I don't have time to go to a park and fly the big 5" quad.
I've been looking at brushless micros, and the pepperfiish looks very interesting, but I really want a frame with some reasonable prop guards.

While looking for ultra light frames that have prop guards, I learned about the new Hoverbot ultralight prototype frame. It is 83mm, and with guards it weights 7.3g.
Weight estimates:
Hoverbot ultralight prototype frame 7.3g (with prop guards)
Furious FPV Fishpepper 5A BB2 1.4g
4x Racerstar Racing Edition 1103 BR1103B 8000KV 14.8g
4x Gemfan 2035BN 2.8g
Tinyfish F3 ver 0.2B 1.7g
Pololu 5V Step-Up/Step-Down Voltage Regulator S7V7F5 0.4g
CM257T 3.3g
Total before misc bulid HW 31.7g
I can't wait to see what this dry weight ends up after a build!
I need to look at battery options, but a Turnigy nano-tech 300mah 2S is supposed to be 19g, putting the AUW in the low 50s grams.
I've included the various parts I'll need to assemble the build as well as some battery related accessories. I want to try this on 1S and 2S so I'll make a Red JST RCY -> JST PH 2.0 adapter to fly whoop HV batteries. I'll also want some XT60-> JST RCY adapters so I can charge the batteries with the parallel board I use for my 5" quad.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
