X2 ELF 88

I wanted to try making a Pocket Rocket. I also wanted another micro quad to mess around with, so I had a look around and the X2 ELF 88mm frame popped up. From there, I went to find the rest of the parts. I wanted a lot of power, so I went with 1106 motors on 3S. The size was small, obviously, so I had to go with a 20mm stack, deciding to give the Magnum F3 a shot, considering it's new and looks pretty decent. There are others on the market, but... Eh, this one is cheaper and I only need 12A ESCs. More on the power side, I wanted the biggest possible propellers, so I went with 2" ones. As far as I can tell, the Gemfan props are a little quieter than the Racerstar 2035s, and they are ever so slightly bigger, so I thought they were great. I still wanted some decent range, so I went with the VTX03, and a separate camera so I could still get some good tilt out of it. I have an FrSky radio and needed a small receiver, so the XM+ was also an obvious choice.

This is what I have so far! Still waiting on the parts to get here, but they should be here soon!

Hi, the build looks good! Did you got the parts and can you tell us a bit about it?

Hi! Yes, I got the parts and it's built now (also sorry for the late reply), but I haven't really flown it longer than about 45 seconds. I'm currently having issues with the motors and I don't have a good enough camera mount to do any sort of FPV, so I've asked a friend to design me a mount for it. He's also going to help me get to the bottom of the motor story, as this motor and prop combination should not be heating up the way it is at all. Unless the research I did on the motors and their thrust output is completely invalid, but 1106s on a micro that weighs 110 grams? According to a video I watched, they should be putting out at least 2xx grams of thrust per motor with a Gemfan 2035.
So yeah, issues to solve, but will post pictures soon! I'll also be uploading my other builds at a later stage.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
