Building the best Atom I can.

Alternate Frame Retailer $19.99 HeliNation

04/02/18 - The Atom v2 frame seems to be discontinued. I bought one off another RotorX fan who said he would include some v3 Canopies. I already have BH motors, RX, and props. Camera, VTX, and ESC have been ordered.

04/17/18 - Atom v2 frame has arrived and it's a prototype. It's got extra ports in the carbon and a different bolt pattern for securing the canopy. I will probably go with Zips again. I got 2 new canopies in my package, one blue and one red. I think I'm going with Red because it's easier to see in a field. I already did a dry fit with my motors and braided the wires. I screwed my Omnibus F4 to a 20x20 adapter and realized the FC has an 8 pin connector and the ESC has a 6 pin.

04/24/18 - I said the Hell with the F4 Nano FC and bought an Omnibus v3 that has a 6 pin connector for the ESC. I installed it and soldered an RX to UART1. I also bridged the 5V pads so the FC receives 5v only. I soldered on an XT60 and tried to plug a lipo to test power. There was a cold joint on the lipo lead from the factory and it exploded off the pad. I'll have to rework it.

04/27/18 - This is the first build I used a black XT60 and the seam looked like a + on the negative side. I soldered the connector backward and it exploded off the pad with a snap and spark. I analyzed the issue and realized my error when I matched up the power wires on the battery. I desoldered the connector and flipped it. Powered on right away good to go. Just waiting on.my camera and VTX.

05/08/18 - I powered on and got all ESC beeps. I did an airmode check and motor 4 threw an ESC error and stopped working. It felt really gritty to me so I replaced it. The replacement motor behaved in the same way. I tried to reflash the ESC and got the same result. I am under the belief that my previous polarity issue may have damaged the ESC. I plan to swap motor 4 with one of the operational motors to see if it will spin.

05/22/18 - Replaced the Cicada ESC with a Racerstar and a 5v regulator. Build powers on and I have great video from the Foxeer Micro Arrow. Maiden to come SOON!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
