I saw this mini QAV and was like "HAD TO HAVE IT!"

01/06/18 - All Parts have been ordered. I heard this frame can accept 2435 Quadblade props and I may try those. IFlight 2435

Will 2.5 fit???
Gemfan 2540

1/24/18 - Frame arrived finally! I am so torn about what props to use. I have a number of 2 inch props so I'll start with those. If they don't fly well I'll order up the 2.5's

01/27/18 - Began laying out the parts for this build and loctiting the bottom standoff screws. Since I have a 16x16 FC/ESC I had to drill new holes in the bottom plate for it to fit securely. I used an old 16x16 as a template stuck down with double sided tape and drilled away. Perfect fit! . The VTX comes with spacers and longer screws. Putting these on is a little fiddly. It allows you to mount the VTX directly on the camera. On my bench I have a pretinned PDB that I use for testing. I linked up the Fullspeed VTX and the Foxeer Arrow Micro to VCC 3S and checked that it's powered and working. The camera was a lot out of focus out of the box. I did some adjusting but it wouldn't come clear. I tried removing the nut and still no good. I put it back on and screwed it slooowly. There is a tiny sweet spot and if you go too far it presses on the protective glass in front of the sensor.

01/29/18 - The Camera Mount plates are directional. If you look at the tabs that fit in the baseplate, the side that is closest to the standoff will be straight down where the other side is slightly notched. I soldered in an XT30 pigtail and the VTX power wires to the ESC pads. Running the VTX power wires under the ESC gave the best fit. I tried several mounting options for the RX2A micro receiver and the area rear of the ESC stack was the best fit. This places the antenna straight out the back of the quad horizontally. The Foxeer cam fits but it's extremely tight. I'm thinking I will be using the camera OSD rather than the BF OSD just because the wiring is easier.

2/1/18 - I had to move the camera to the front most hole so it could tilt with the VTX attached. I went with stock dipole on a zip tie. I cut an old battery strap in 1/3 and tied in an overhand knot so the hook and loop was facing each other. Fuzzy side out. The strap holes in the top plate at 9mm wide. I added a zip out the back to reinforce the RX antenna too. Buttoned it up and did an angle mode hover. The quad has a gangsta lean to the left. Probably needs another accelrometer calibration. I may add some mini foam landing pads but otherwise I think this one is done.

2/2/18 - If this was your first micro it would be stupendously fun. If you have other performance micros that have spoiled you already this one will fall way short. It's heavy and really floaty. If I had one word for it the word would be SLOW. There's also a considerable amount of jello in my footage. I don't know if tuning will fix that or if the camera mount is just that shakey and vibey. For me, this one is now just a wall-hanger/last resort. I wonder if 2.5 props or 3 blade props would change my feelings?

Sadly, 2.5 props will not fit this frame. Only 2.4 or smaller will clear the front standoffs. I agree it would be a better flyer with larger motors and battery. The 16x16 I jammed in there can't handle that. If you go with the is100 20x20 stack the sky is the limit. This is still not the frame I would grab for a 2.5 inch build. It's a cute wall hanger and that's about it. You may also have to go bottom mount with anything larger than a 450 size battery. That would change the flight characteristics completely.

hmmmmm you think getting a geprc 125 gep-p2.5 frame would be better? heard i could top mount the bat on that. Also do you think the 5500kv will be effifcient but still punchy?

I think the GEPRC would be a better overall choice. A much better quality product and design. 5500kv on 3S will run great! Sounds like a great build and I'd love to see when you're done.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
