Hello! I just finished my build in the same vein, did some remodelling of files to get the cam and receiver to fit a little better in the quad, but having some trouble with the tune. did you happen to tune this and if so do you have a tune you would share? I included a pic of build and would be happy to share 3d print files with you!
Love those 3D prints (maybe I already commented that on the more purple version...not sure, but let me say it once more --> nice 3D prints). I also appreciate some clean shrink wrapping on that power cord.
Now after having enjoyed that digital video rant of yours, I find the choice of botgrinder's arch enemy..the evil DJI corporation a curious winner for this build...I also put some DJI in an old botgrinder frame (the BQE one)...and kinda gave up on a rant and just typed... DJI is just the best image quality...and range...at the moment, but I hear you.
I'm still curious about some old walksnail gear, but those new goggles are big fat no at the moment.
There are also rumors about Orqa working on some digital gear, but I wouldn't good me breath
Stopped using Caddx/Walksnail completely now. Had two VTXs go tits up when flashing them with the 500th firmware update within a year. So, eff those dipshits.
Thanks for the comments, I take my time now. I like them to look as good as they fly, which is awesome.
And DJI and HDZ (now that they are in the same form factor) are all I use. Well, unless I want to hear the props, then I fly my analogs.
One day we will have audio on digital.
Oh, that's good to know. This makes it easier to cross that off my list of "things I want because people say they are cool". I've had a feeling the system is not mature enough yet. I'll save my money and try to get HDZero.
I also still like rocking some analog with a decent action cam.
Walksnail has been getting a lot of hype and I'm generally suspicious of hype...but then again... it's FPV --> easy to get carried away and do a cookie monster "me want ALL THE THINGS" 😁
hi i have 3 questions:
whats the motor mounting hole size? 1616mm? or 1919mm? mine looks like 1616 and wont take 1919 motor mounting holes
You win a free reset switch on your controller, if you can spot a cameo of xJet hidden in this video...
that's a beautiful build mate!
I'm a newbie and buy the drone building in speedybee. did you use the PID and Filters custom or the originally from betaflight?
some tips to made it flying better?
thanks
Beautifully done. Frame looks great, video is very solid, and the writeup is super detailed. Very enjoyable post. My only complaint is I want a bnf version I can buy!
i wish I could find the guidance system these days. got 2 ancient matrice 100s from an auction and they are brand new but missing the guidance system.
I have these same motors on an odonata build. Try the GEMFAN HURRICANE 2015-2 prop. Perfect for the motor and youll get way more flight time
wow, dude!! this is incredible! I've been going over ideas like this in my head ever since I started building Fractals. I don't have the tools or space, but it seems like you've addressed everything about the fractal that I don't love. if there's any way to get a couple shipped to Canada, please let me know! happy to support this project. email: maxpower_421@hotmail.com thanks dude, and good luck! 👍🏻
I've wanted the fractal for such a long time but I agree I had some concerns that made me hesitate on getting one (canopy, flight controller mounting, and shipping costs). Slowly getting myself to have a proper CNC so I took the chance. I will me emailing CNC Madness after the weekend! and from what I know they ship in the US and Canada! I may just not get a cut from it to reduce costs
awesome, man!! sorry i just found this notification in my junk folder. that'd be perfect, as i live only one province away from cncmadness and i actually order from them regularly.
see how it would work out for you, and if you need me to send you a few bucks to make it worth your time, im happy to compensate you for your design and time.
the fractal has a lot good going for it. i actually like the way the fc mounts, and ive found it to offer waaay better protection than with a typical whoop, and since I also regularly fly 5", I also like that the camera is at the same level and out front of the motors.
where I find it falls short, is the battery mount. I wish it went toilet tank because you get a massive pendulum action that makes it very difficult to accurately negotiate tight cornering and freestyle roll maneuvers. i tried it for racing, but ended up flying the Newbeedrone cockroach v3 with a carbon brace. it's very good, but I love the look of yours and it'd like to experiment.
shoot me an email with the info, if you don't mind! cheers dude, have a great week! 😁
