So, winter has arrived here in NH and, since I'd like to learn to fly FPV with some degree of competence, thought I'd attempt to build an indoor-only quad that could carry one of the AIO camera/vtx units and be reasonably crash worthy. The build is done (at least the first revision) and it flies pretty well :-) Not fast but that is exactly what I want for now and the frame allows upgrade to 8.5mm motors later. I liked the built-in prop guards on this frame as I know it will crash a lot! Went with 7mm medium motors to keep speed under control. Already had the FX-797T which I used on one of my toy quads to try FPV flying. The Nano QX flight controller was convenient for me since it has an integrated DSMX receiver that is compatible with my Devo 7 and 10 transmitters. One note... the quad is EXTREMELY sensitive to prop perfection. After a couple of wall crashes, it would barely lift off the floor. Someone on a forum said to change the props and that was the problem. At that time I was using OEM Hubsan props. The Afunta transparent props are supposed to be far tougher so we shall see ;-)

Update02/02/2017: This has turned out to be quite frustrating. Seems I get lateral drift with any yaw input. I think the Nano QX FC is not working properly. I use the same controller with my Blade Nano QX quads and do not have the problem. So, this is currently on the shelf. Probably going to put an N32 brushed FC in it at some point and maybe go with 8mm motors. I'm using the Blade for indoor FPVing now so this one will probably become an outdoor micro racer with some mods.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
