XBR220 "Albatross"

My first ever Quadcopter build, I chose the XBR220 for it's speed and durability. Just about to order now, looking for feedback on parts.

EDIT 12/15/15

I have completed the build now, I added a few things late in the game. One thing I needed but didn't have were some plain Jane soldering pins (both male double and female single) for connecting the Rx and the FC. And also the Flight Controller to an FTDI to USB board to program my ESC's and FC.

Also the PDB I chose was a very tight fit under this hood and didn't really benefit me that much over a cheap 5-6 dollar one that only does PDB.

I included a picture of my first draft prototype XBR GoPro/Xiaomi Yi Mount Hood, includes a flat spot on the roof matching the 30 degree angle of the FPV camera and a slot for a strap. I am looking forward to my maiden flight soon, I live in CO and it just snowed, it could be a few days.

EDIT 2/3/16

Upgraded my FPV Lens, 1.7mm. Also printed my custom designed TPU 1/4" lifted XBR hood, it has a 30 degree platform sized for a Xaiomi Yi/GoPro Camera and strap slot. Installed Male Servo for Timing Transponder for next race.

I won 3 out of 7 races at the first MultiGP event I attended, finished with the most points. I was no where near the fastest pilot but I placed the most/crashed the least. We raced the UTT2, Tsunami.

You know that you'll need a novel way to connect the Afromini to your computer? Arduino etc.

You are absolutely right, I now have a FTDI to USB card on order. I'll add it to the Misc Parts. Luckily I had a friend who helped me out with getting it flashed and setup correctly.

Interesting controller. Are there any downsides to using an older version of the Naze32? It says rev. 3, and I think Naze is on rev. 6.

Good to see people putting many batteries and extra motors to get the real cost!

Yeah, good to include the nitty gritty because there's certainly a lot of that in this hobby!

Really not sure what the difference is between the mini FC and full size naze? But I needed this one to conserve space on this frame/under the hood. And I added the spare parts and created this list so I could see the full cost, I am still considering adding some hardware/shrink wrap/other shit I know I will need. (Glad you can benefit as well)

XBR220 Frame = 79.95USD
XBR Hood = 4.95USD

These parts say see site for some reason.

Fixed those prices for you!

Thanks man! Future reference was there something I could have done? Or are you just admin?

Sorry, it's something I need to do on the backend. Yes, I'm the admin.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
