After flying the heck out of Beatbox, it is time to rebuild it with some hopefully stronger, longer lasting parts. The new flight controller with built-in Frsky will be a big benefit since the receiver has been the most-replaced part in Beatbox's history.

Couple really good things about this rig. First, it is quiet. Bicyclists won't even hear or see it. Walkers are not afraid of it. I ran it into my hip and it didn't even hurt (broke two props). This allows you to fly in almost any park you come across. Drain a couple packs and you're gone - like a ninja. Second, it flies much faster than people imagine. I walk up to a group of fellow pilots, pull this guy out, and it zips around. Soon, they are all jumping up to see what I have - and that is on 2S. On 3S, it is insane.

Overall, at 69 grams sans battery, this build is about 13 grams more than Beatbox, so miss the agility of the lighter frame, but I so far it is holding up well. The green printed bumpers are trash, save yourself some time and weight and not assemble them. I took them off the build and my motors don't loosen any more.

The RSSI is mapped to something strange so your transmitter won't give you warnings. I have the antenna strapped to the motor 4 leg, so I'll lose control at around 120m-150m. That's ok, I didn't want to walk that far anyway. Hopefully, I will figure out how to get the RSSI working on this rig.

The FC turns the beeper on constantly when in Acro mode, so I had to disconnect it for now. One of my compatriots purchased the same FC and the blue button is connected to the beeper line. It appears that the resources for this FC are randomly set at the factory. Also, the motor resources are also out of order, since in my build they are 1324. If you get this FC, fix the resources before you solder any connections.

update 1: My assumption about the FC was incorrect. It turns out that when Racerstar "acquired" the design from Airbot they just put some random firmware on it. Jumper the boot pins and flash AIRBOTF4 on it, then it works. Probably because of the flash problems, BG is now selling this FC for -dirt cheap- which is a steal considering you can just flash it yourself and get a good F4 FC with built-in FrSky receiver.

update 2: I giant-barrel-rolled this into the ground, breaking a motor and arm tip off, so it is down for repairs. The new frame and top are significantly different, so maybe this one will return under a new name.

Hey, So you recommend me the Betaflight 3.1.0 F4 Flight Controller?
This Will be my first build.

Depends on if you can or can’t handle a firmware update. If you can, then this board is an extremely inexpensive (and you get a free receiver as well) but good board to get.

I thought this was going to be the Komodo not the Chopstick.

Komodo is for the 3" build.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
