So after having a DJI Spark for a year or so, and being really interested in the FPV style of Multi-Rotors, I decided to bite the bullet and build my first FPV Quad.
After spending way too much time on YouTube channels, and seeing about 10 Million different awesome builds, I settled on a TransTech Frog Lite frame. I liked the look of the frame, and reviews all said, it was a good, strong frame that can take a bit of a beating, probably not a bad thing for a nooby.
I wanted to make this a budget(ish) build, but still use good, reliable parts. Thanks to Dronemesh videos, I settled on the DalRC Engine 4 in 1 ESC, and the DalRC F405 FC. Being a stack using pin connectors, it made sense to me as it made things easier for a first time build.
Again using Dronemesh' suggestions, I went with RacerStar Motors that are 2205's and 2300kv. At the same time I ordered the ever popular Eachine TX526 VTX.
A Foxeer Predator Mini 1.8mm Camera was ordered, alongside a Foxeer Mini Lollipop VTX Antenna.
To finish things off, i've gone with the FlySky FS-i6X transmitter and it's corresponding receiver.
The Frog was quite a tight fit for everything, partly due to the size of the FlySky RX, it's a bit of a beast. But with a little bit of tweaking and the liberal application of zip ties, everything fits nicely.
I love the build personally. The stack is nice and compact, and overall it's a nice clean build (IMO haha).
If you've made it this far, then thanks for reading. I've still got to sort batteries, goggles and a charger, but they'll hopefully be on the buying list before the weather turns crap again and i'm left to Tiny Whooping my way around the house, driving my cats nuts at the same time :D
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
