iflight IX3 Lite
3inch frame / props on 4s, this thing screams!
I have built a few 5inch rigs but wanted something smaller to rip around. I live across the road from a school & the 5inch builds are a little too loud there, I haven’t had a noise compliant yet but I’m sure one is coming. So I have downsized to a 3inch.
Frame: So far I’m impressed with this frame from iflight. It’s tight to build with but has stood up to some hard crashes (concrete included). I have mounted the antenna & capacitor with an iflight 3d printed TPU part, which gives a little more room inside.
Motors: These Emax RS1106 / 4500kv motors are great, running them on China Hobby Line / MiniStar 4s / 650mAh batteries, getting around 3.30min flight times with aggressive flying
I have smashed 2x motors when crashing hard onto concrete (but to be expected, frame is fine). I’m using Gemfan 3035 props & they seem to have plenty of thrust with good efficiency.
Flight Controller / ESC: All my 5inch rigs have Matek Flight Controllers & haven’t let me down (I have had a few cheap flight controllers that have failed). So I went for the Matek F411 mini & works great. The ESC is the HAKRC, 15a, 4 in 1, Blheli_S / Dshot600 & seems to handle the 4s at full throttle fine.
VTX / Camera: This Speedybee VTX is fine, the picture signal is good around the school buildings. The Camera is a Foxeer Arrow Micro Pro, cheap but good picture image.
Overall I’m very happy (& so are my neighbours?), this quad flies great & has plenty of power. If I had a compliant, maybe a little more motor protection on the frame, but it’s a lite frame so designed for weight saving.
I have just ordered the Acrobrat frame & looking forward to some HD footage, over & out for now…
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
