those parts are older than every part i've bought in the past. that's the reason why this quadcopter will be an 3s powered (have some 3S around). those motors and escs are first used with an CC3D on a DJI flamewheel f450, and carried a GoPro Hero 3.
i'm not sure which flight controller will be used to give this rig a brain, maybe there will be a raceflight/flightone or maybe i will find a dual stm32 board (f3/f4)...
it happens to be strange, i have this first ever bought OMNIBUS F4 Pro v2 Flight controller, which blew a part and i've never took a closer look into it. but today i've tried to figure out, what's wrong with this board, because it's working fine with vbat connected, but doesn't do anything with usb connected. but i can connect with betaflight while a lipo is connected to the board. i had a closer look into the usb input section and straight found a blown diode...that's it. relpaced this smd part with another diode i borrowed from a definitely broken OMNIBUS F3 board (usb input side, to be sure it's the corresponding part) and my OMNIBUS-F4SD is alive again.
this time: emuFlight will be the firmware to take place of the magic. i know this one is better in handling vibrations which an 8" frame will produce. but i also will need to get another esc set, maybe an 4in1 or just 4 tiny 20A BLHeli_s ones. i need to check, why my BLHeli_s ones sometimes only do DSHOT150 and another one is able to go up to DSHOT600. -> If someone knows, please get in touch!!!
UPDATE I: the omnibus F4 is broken, absolutely not going to use it! somehow the video-part is broken, there is no osd in the video or is there any video at all. bought a matek f405-ctr board, with pdb on board.
UPDATE II: the provided screws for the arms and stack are rubbish, also the pressnuts do not work properly. will replace them all (4x M3x10mm screews & 4x M3x22mm). than the fs-x6b can sit on top of the flight controller. the tbs unify vtx is getting a microphone and will be used with smart audio via the small circuitree, i hope this will work.
UPDATE III: project done! almost... thanks to "JazzMaverick" and his amazing work on the BLHeli_s firmware for most of the esc in the wild, all four esc are now working on DSHOT300 with some errors in the motors tab. but the all work! hope to maiden this one soon, i only have to find a fitting battery strap. the one on the picture(s) is way too long.
UPDATE IV: so as you can see in the latest pictures, i had no fitting battery strap - so i made one. hope it holds.
UPDATE V: will soon change the flight controller to another one with a separated mpu6000, the Happymodel Omnibus F4 Pro Corner was originally planed for this build.
UPDATE VI: the flight controller was changed, also the receiver is changed - ExpressLRS is the way to go on my Cinewhoops and this long range build.
But that's not the best - now with GPS. Only things I'm missing are some 3D printed parts to hold the DIY 20x20 receiver and the GPS module.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
