Pro tip: If you are using a vista in a wing and will have a side of it exposed, flip it upside down because the hot side is the "bottom side" of the unit. It'll keep the actual ASIC exposed to airflow and greatly reduce risk of overheating.
This thing is easy to land! I can launch from the street and land in my small front yard lol.
I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more planes. But hell, this is 3rd plane on my latest builds (Durafly Tundra v2, Volantex Ranger 2000 both with head tracked FPV). I probably should put those up here. The Heewing T-1 Ranger is my favorite new fixed-wing platform. Am I still flying quads? Yes, every day I rip my Moongoat and 2Fiddy, they're just more convenient with this stupid wind we've been having. But people are doing some insane stuff with this platform. They've built ultra long range 6s liion flying versions, they've built VTOL versions! I'm hoping to add a proper rudder to one of these soon (yes I can use diff thrust) and I want to make a STOL version!
For whatever reason inav doesn't have a motor output limit, but it does have current limits so you can hopefully avoid burning out your motors and run some higher voltage if motors/esc support them to gain more efficiency through less amp draw.
This pulls like nobody's business. The power is crazy and I worry I might be a little overpropped but I can drop down to some smaller or lower pitch props if necessary. I want it to be my "5in quad equivalent" because it can use the same packs as my 5in quad (1300mah 6s, 1100mah 6s, 1050mah 6s) with greater efficiency but still cut through the air like a demon. I'm thinking of switching to the DJI camera from the polar starlight since the days in Texas are about to get long and this is too loud to really fly at night.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
