Frog Race - RaceFlight / Emax 2306

Frog Race - Specifically because of its simple design; 4 parts. Not as stiff as the 4mm QAV-X and no chamfered edges, but clean and simple. Limited space (i.e. no real space for buzzer or capacitor)
Raceflight is an easy setup. Bind, then connect up the XM+ and double-side tape it to the bottom of the board. Mount the board and then bring in wires from the bottom; thread through the holes and solder on.
ESC setup through RaceFlight (Multishot). I'm not sure on the Race / Freestyle option in the latest configurator, I must RTFM sometime.
I am a fan of the Emax 2205S motors, but they don't take trauma very well. I decided "go large", but no doubt I will feel the pain in flight times.
I find the HQ V3s extremely grippy and will hold fast going into a tight turn with a lot of momentum. Rolling out on all my rigs now .
The Swift 2 is good (metal inserts for screws on both body shells) and offers voltage & on-time but can be difficult to get a crisp focus.
I find the Switcher pretty good, with a relatively narrow band. Weak point is the Antenna mount, so make sure you mount it tightly. I always secure the antenna with tie wrap(s) as I have had the antenna mount come off in a mild tumble. Also - don't let it touch the frame!! It gets warm and I welcome any points on adding a few layers of plastic (insulating) tape to it ... is it a bad idea ? It fits well in this frame and gives access to LED and button from the top if placed correctly.
I decided against the Matek OSD in the end & just went with camera OSD. Careful with these on a crash as I have had them short. I would advise changing on any major quad floor gymnastics. I like the XT60 mount position and can be held securely with sticky foam tape and a tight tie-wrap.
The 2.5 lens just works for me ... not horribly fish-eye, but even at a high degree of tilt, landing is still easy.
Overall, clean build (343g dry) but I am also building another (exactly the same) with the Emax 2205 motors.
I don't fly with a camera often (I have another specific rig for a camera) so no provision there, keeps the frame light and the difference is negligible when I go up to 1500 MaH batteries. So far the XM+ has been flawless for me, so I will continue to work with it .. but make sure you secure the whiskers with heatshrink over tie wraps .. .they are brittle.
Feel free to post any questions on any of the parts ... happy to help.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
