Did the props not work when adding them to the part list?

Hi Whiffles - are you the creator of this site? If so, great job it is almost perfect - I was going to create my own site until i found this. The only issue, which stopped me from adding the props to the part list, is that the site does not allow decimal amounts of each part. In the case of the propellors above, they are sold in lots of 100, so i only wanted to add 0.04 units of them. The UI let me do this, but when i saved the build it rounded up to the nearest integer of 1, which made my total cost over by almost AU$100! This was also true for the antenna i used - these are sold in lots of 2 and hence i wanted to only add 0.5 units but could not. This means my total is wrong, but only by a small amount so i accepted that.

Yes, thank you! That has come up before, but I designed the site to focus on two questions concerning parts: where and what? If you bought a 100 pack of props somebody else might want to buy a 100 pack. By adding it to your build you're giving folks the idea to purchase them in bulk. Not only that, but it'll give you a clear picture of what you've invested in this build. The idea is not to price out a single, complete build, but to track what you spent and what you got for the money.

I can appreciate yout position - you need to have goals and stick to them. My primary goal in using this site is to list my build and the total BASE cost of the unit. That way, across the board i could compare what it costs to build different 'models' of quads. If i include consumables such as propellers, then it becomes hard to do such a comparison.

However, just as you mentioned the 'where', i too agree that i want to link to my favourite supplier so that others can discover them. This is why i preferred to link to them and show a fractional unit. I think that is a good compromise. Perhaps you could collect this data and show a 'base' unit cost as well as a 'total purchase cost' in a clever way? That would satisfy both desires. I think it would even be interesting then to have listed on the site that show quads ordered by base price, etc.

Just ideas - it's the software engineer in me coming out!

Duly noted! I know some folks link to single unit pages in cases like this, but I've been considering a price adjustment feature so you can modify the price to indicate exactly what you paid (shipping, etc.) for your own accounting purposes. There are also a few sites that don't display the price without JavaScript. Those come up with "See site" because I'm doing straight HTML parsing. So this functionality would also be useful in those cases where I cannot determine the price. I think it can be applied to your case, so rather than support fractional quantities you would simply do the math yourself and change the price.

Yep agreed - being able to set the price would be better than messing around with fractions. Thanks for listening and i look forward to this feature!
