TBS Source two (2) DJI

I wanted to build a lightweight 5" racer (4s) using the DJI to see if its a reasonable racing option for MultiGP. Without a battery, this weighs in at 307grams.

I had to switch out the standoffs that came with the TBS Source 2, as it wouldn't fit the stack AND the DJI Air Unit. Pretty sure the one I went to is a 30mm, but I pulled it off the STX225 DIY build kit. There should be a pic showing the gap with the original standoffs, the ones I went to are knurled at the top and bottom and necked back in the middle which seemed to work out well to mount the rubber camera mounts.

After I had the extra vertical space, I 3d printed a platform to add some Ummagrip Lite to it and to the bottom of the top plate.

I had to play around with the orientation of the air unit to make the wiring make sense and to figure out how to mount the antennas, which I ended up just sticking out a hole in the top plate.

Took a crack at PID tuning as there was still some oscillation during max throttle and very aggressive direction reversals. But the stock BetaFlight tube proved best.

This thing screams! With it being so light it handles corners super well and with the high kV motors it has great top end speed too! Its faster than I'm able to fly, thats for sure.

Would love any recommendations about you all would have done different, or things i can change to make it better/faster/lighter... unless your suggestion is to go back to an analog setup to reduce weight in the VTX, because obvipusly...

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
