This is my first ever build. I've been flying a 4s RTF race drone for about 2 months and wanted to build a top mount battery freestyle rig to hold a GoPro. I learned a lot about the different components with my RTF. After doing a bit of homework I ordered a decent soldering kit and a lot of parts.

It wasn't until I started browsing this site and youtube that I realized just how much you could do to modify a build with different mounts and standoffs, not just only the components.

Needless to say the soldering and fitment was a little challenging for me as a beginner, but boy am I hooked.

The standoffs that came with the stack were about a millimeter too high for the frame. I sanded down the threads and they cleared the frame, but the gyro on the FC was touching the top plate. I sanded another 0.5-1.0mm off of the plastic standoff and it fit very well.

The XT60 was another challenge as I have th GoPro mount in the front and I chose to have the main power connector on the board face the rear instead of the side because of how I chose to route my motor wires (around the stack and over the ESC) I routed the XT60 around the side and saw that it had a high likelyhood of hitting the props. I ziptied it to a standoff and in my opinion it looks pretty good. It's a little hard to plug in but I'm going to deal with it for now.

I have hear shrink over the receiver and ziptied it to the frame utilizing existing holes. The VTX came with double sided tape which I used to mount it in between the receiver and ESC.

I learned a lot in this build, most notably that I suck at soldering!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
