This is the setup I built for Discovery Channels GETAWAY DRIVER, for which myself, ERODYO, and CRICKET worked with GLIDE AERIALS to provide chase footage for this new format driving competition.

The brief was to have GoPro carrying FPV setups that could not only keep up with car racing action, but also last up 10-20 minutes in the air. Sounds easy right! Fortunately this did include pre-staging and post race coverage so there was no constant chasing, but we did see a few flights break with 20 minute mark, and even a race cross 10.

DAVID KNIGHT put together the initial li-ion rig on a Hyperlite Freerange frame, and 2204 motors. Unsure of the speed requirements I opted for a slightly more powerful 2205.5 motor that could also swing a 6" prop if we needed.

KOTKING TO THE RESCUE: We were flying in pouring rain, and dealing with the fallout splashes from puddles for the first few days. This gave us a chance to put kotking to the test and thankfully it worked amazingly. Even with a quad getting dunked in a pool for 5 mins. The thick silicone gel gives much more confidence than the UV reliant conformal coating. 11/10 highly recommend.

The rigs performed amazingly and kept up with all the action, aside from a couple real fast drivers who were bold enough to floor it on some of the short straightaways. But that is to be expected from the 30a li-ion batteries.

I have since kept with this power train on a bunch of commercial projects. The 25g motors and lithium ion flight time lets you run through an entire music video 3-4 times without the 3-4 battery changes lipo's would require.

I also have an updated version of the RS+ frame on the way that better fits the DJI system (allows for a 30x30 stack), and allows different arm layouts and 5-6" prop sizes using just ONE arm design (the RS+ has 4 different arms: 5" 6", true x, and squashed).
