Odonata HD - Ultimate 2"

As I notice myself chasing perfection and modding frames more and more, chasing that sweetspot of cg, pids tweaked to the right balance, great power to weight ratio etc. I decided to only go with open-source frames. Bought a Sainsmart 3018pro Max and got some carbon fiber plates on order and will be milling my own from now on. That being said, I first have to find the time to deep dive into the CNC rabbit hole.

This frame, the Odonata HD I ordered from my go to cnc shop, CNC-Madness. Turned out they mistyped the postal code, after reaching out to their excellent customer service they replied saying the new one will go out same day with the correct postal code!

As most of my recent builds I took my sweet time with this one too with holidays and end of year stuff going on. I'll start of by saying the color matching is a total coincidence lol! From the standoffs (seperatly ordered) to filament(dual color pink/blue) used for parts to the lipo used(that came in straight from the mail trying 550s), pure coincidence. But what a timing one would say.

I think I would've sticked to my OG Odonata (1,6") only but always wondered what 2" on practically the same weight would do. Then came across this gentleman's clip and figured, wby not?!

As I like to use tried and true components I used the same aio that's in my Mob7 and OG Odonata. I've seen the price of these boards go from 50 ish to 75,- in over a year smh. Fpv vendors thinking they're in the real estate market or something?!!

Easy and lightweight boards and just a dump and paste away which saves alot of time setting things up. It took me 5min literally! The most time was needed was to setup motor direction and flashing BlueJay as that took really long compared to previous builds with latest version on 48khz.

Figured I shed some weight by going 1002 route motor with 14k kv throttled down to 75% equals 11.5k kv. And because they look so nice, can't deny that. Plus the price is still for 'mortals'.

I decided to go for 16mm standoff instead of 15 oem on my og odo for a tad bit more clearance without taking away that lowrider/slammed look. Since I needed to order these separately I went for blue anodized standoffs. And used my remixed 2s lipo holders (petg) , hope they last.

Build overall was smooth and do able, nothing major opposed to the smaller builds. Test hover went fine, I turned filters down a bit as well as P and slightly I. Pure harmony while testing in my mancave. Now it's a matter of time for the weather to turn around and fly/tweak it. I probably build another one as spare (just an excuse) but then with the caddx Polar cam (night cam) as I can already tell this pocket rocket will most likely be my daily when out and about and the 5" is not sensible. Couldn't find a nano night version of new runcam/link one which looks very good on yt but only comes in 19 mil I believe. If you have any suggestions on that please let me know.

If you made it this far, like it and I'll like yours ghehe. Happy flying!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
