I saw the new GE-5 frame on Banggood recently, and was in the market for a new quad, so I decided to buy it.
I decided to go with the DYS F4 for this build due to the limited amount of stack mounting height available in this low profile frame.
I used my LiteS ESCs again as they are cheap and work a treat for me, and went with some DYS SE2205 2300KV PRO motors for the quad because I thought gold would look great with purple, and they seem to perform very well for a modest price. Not the best motors out there, but they have solder pads for the motor wires, making them easy to replace.
I used the TX526 and standard HS11777 as these have no issues on my other builds and work well. I also run a flysky FS-i6x for my transmitter, and so need an X6B.
This is my third quad build, and it is my best so far, clean and able to rip hard around a track.
Now that I have finished building it, I can safely say that this quad absolutely rips. The motors handle the Cyclones beautifully, and BFOSD is like a godsend.
The frame is great, however, the camera mounting holes need to be drilled out in order to actually fit a camera, and even with an AIO FC PDB, it is really difficult to fit that, the structural stock PDB, and some battery straps in.
I made my XT60 connector too high, and so it makes it really difficult to plug in my battery, with only 1 of the battery straps doing almost nothing.
Great frame, it flies beautifully, with the DYS SE2205 PRO motors giving me flight times of around 6-7 minutes with the 5045x3 cyclones, even when punching the throttle hard with a turnigy 1300 4s 65c graphene. Haven't crashed it yet but it looks very solid.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
