This is my first attempt at a race quad. Previous quads I’ve built have been just learning and zooming around the parks so now I threw this together to get a little more serious with it.
This is my second time through it and it’s never even been in the air as the Asgard went up in smoke when I was testing the motors in beta flight. Half the board was DOA.
Should be finished and have some pictures up by 11-17-17.
Edit 11-16: UPS was "delayed by severe weather or accident"......
Also known as they didn't wanna drive all the way out here to deliver my parts I paid for 2 day air on. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. I just wanna get this thing in the air since I've already built it once.
11-17-17, everything is put together and hover checked, all working well. Camera is mounted quite crappily in the stock foxeer mount until my buddy brings in the 3d printed mount for this quad and I can move it out front a bit. I had to add about 10mm to the stand off's just to get it mounted as it sits, that will come out as soon as I get the proper mount.
I really wanted to do this one with a 4 in 1 ESC because it just looks so much better but I have had such terrible luck with them that now I feel jinxed when it comes to them so I went with the EMAX 30a's because they're reliable and small enough they don't take away from the quad too much. Can't wait to put her in the air with some goggles and see how she does.
11-21-17, last update. I got some green nylon sleeving in (and a crap ton of other colors) from primo chill today so I tore it down one last time to sleeve it how I wanted. Pay no attention to the beat up props lol, sometimes doing hover checks in the shop at the office is a bit of a tight space and my thumbs get away from me.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
