My first build, honestly the name is a bit of a throw away, kind of a play on some of the bind and flies from HGLRC...just a silly compound word..and something with "Dragon".
As far as the process, there's really not much to say. i just got into the hobby sometime in late June of 2023, bought a couple of cheap bind and flies and started looking for more...more creative outlet I guess.
Ok, back to the process, kinda drifted off for a moment...my process was really just buying a couple of cheap...cheap everything. Cheap frame and motors were the first items... waited on some stacks to go on sale, tried some different receivers and googled "quality VTx", as bad video was one of the things i noticed about the bnf quads I have.
I think I stayed well under $200 for this (some of the prices in the links here are not super accurate), and then when i had the parts, I decided to paint the frame.
When it comes to the color selection I just wanted colors that pop. Honestly...I think painting might've been the most time consuming part of the process... wiring everything up took about two hours or so, binding ELRS was super smooth... dialing in the rush tank VTx took a little more trial and error, but I think it's good now...fingers crossed, I've so far only taken her out twice since completing the build...maybe flew like six or seven packs so far.
Finally added a beeper the other day.
Update late March 2024:
after having beaten up this frame for a few months now and finally busting a motor, I decided to give it a makeover. Trying to keep the color scheme similar to same...while taking some artistic liberties of course.
I also found these cheap old school rcINPOWER motors with 2750kv, which made me curious.
Prices for the new upgrades:
new rcInpower 2306 2750kv motors ~$40 on AliExpress
new antenna... around $5 on AliExpress
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
