Technically my first build of 2024 (I started this one awhile ago, just took my time), and starting the year with an old design. This frame came out in...2018, I think, but after looking at it, I thought to myself ..."still looks really cool", and even though I like the new botgrinder frames, I wanted to start with this design, as the low profile and thick baseplate reminded me of some of my favorite armattan models.

DJI just because.. it's still the best picture at the moment. Motors because.... those Xing motors rip!!!
...and yes...we all know what Botgrinder thinks about DJI...but, it's what I have right now and the image quality is just top.

Fitting the Air unit was a bit difficult as space in the rear of this frame is rather tight, but after sliding the holes to mount the bracket a bit around and eventually turning the whole thing by 90 degrees, it all finally fit.

One thing I noticed about this frame and build was the dry weight being at around 380grams, which puts it rather on the lighter side for a 5 inch freestyle quad. Depending on battery choice we could be in the lower to mid 500 gram range, which is not too shabby.

Also...if anyone wonders if the amount of pics uploaded is any indicator how much I like the color scheme? Yes it is. And yes...it brings up the old dilemma of..this looks so nice... I'm just gonna fly circles high up in the sky with this... hopefully not, this is my new basher rig, let's see how the color wears.

It seems like it would fly really well. So far, have you managed to get her through any gates? Sprunki Incredibox

yeah, we sometimes meet in this place nearby where some of my friends set up gates, but generally speaking I fly more freestyle. So yes, gates, but mainly just to power loop or cork screw, not really to race. I'm also not sure this would be the best racing rig as the motors are pretty moderate and the weight is not bad but could be better. The esc rating is probably too low for serious racing and I still fly 4S because...money money money

The crackle paint job you did on the roof is fantastic, I genuinely thought of lechee fruit.
Overall build looks great, did you print directly onto your frame?!?!? Wiring looks clean, and I love the washers!

Yes, I really enjoy the crackle paint with layers. at this point I've really gotten some nice results with it.
That messy print does look like it was done on there..my mistake. I'm still fairly new to the 3D printing game, that's just a messed up print.

Happy to hear you like it

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
