This being my first build I really didn't know where to start, but having a background as a mechanic I have some exposure to fitting things together. While looking at other builds I had grand ideas like: the camera doesn't face inside the quad. My goal with this build was being able to capture video while I fly, without having to have a camera strapped to the top of the quad. This quad earned its name from a tip of the hat to some of my heroes as a kid, the Ninja Turtles.

I had a fellow piliot mention this frame is tight and trying to get all of the non stack parts like the reciever, beeper and VTx inside the stack housing would prove to be challenge for me.

I have also learned to not to make the wires too short. I will be addressing my motor wires very soon to clean that up. I am also planning on changing the securement method for my motor wires to look more neat.

The spektrum reciever does need to come out of the housing if you plan on fitting it inside the stack with the beeper and VTx. When you do put clear heat shrink around it to secure the anntenae to the board. I have learned that your quad WILL failsafe when it looses one of the anntenae. I was sad when I saw my quad find the ground. Then I laughed at my oversight when I saw the antena dangling below the reciever.

I look forward to hearing your critques and improvements I can make on this build and future builds.

I think it flies really well with the stock PIDs, but my experience has been limited to BNF quads, and they don't fly nearly as well as this quad does.

Update: I had a couple crashes and had to do some work and while it was on the bench.  I cut the corners off the camera mounting bracket so it has more adjustment for up tilt. I ran wires for the motors for a touch more eye candy.

Master Splitter met an unfortunate demise via a car tire, on nov 17th.  There is no salvageable parts. However, the great news is we can rebuild it, better, stronger and faster.   Actually, I don't know if it will be faster, or stronger   If any of you guys know of a quad that can take getting ran over, let me know :

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
