Cube Shark

i built a 3" micro based on the diatone gtb 339 frame. i have one of the original diatone cubes and it is a really fun quad when tuned well.

i got the shark byte system recently and thought it would be fun to build something lightweight with it. That is the point of shark byte, i think- The gear is nice and light. I had the frame from purchasing a project quad from someone. After all the buzz about the flywoo explorer, I wanted to try their motors, but I did go down in size. Since I have many 3s batteries, I went for the 5150kv version. The flight controller was just pretty cheap, but its quality looks good.

I started by running long bolts up from the bottom and tightening them right away to the frame with nuts. then i stacked the FC and video board with soft mount grommets. the canopy jams down on the screw ends. the camera fits perfectly in the TPA canopy. The battery straps to the bottom. The receiver sits under and behind the camera and the antenna is zip tied in the front.

I'll get some accurate weights soon, but I think it weighs around 71 grams.

I really like this quad. It's fast and efficient. It will fly for 8-9 minutes on a 550mah 3s battery and I recently found it will fly okay on 2s. I'm going to work on a new tune for that. I realize shark byte is a divisive topic, but I likethe system. It is definitely better than analog, and may not be near DJI, but it totally changed my ability to fly through the trees, one of my favorite flying places.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
