Been well over a year since I've finnished the original version of this quad, and a lot has changed since. Only parts that stayed from the original is the frame and the camera, and receiver, although each have been replaced many times over after crashes. There are now many different frames I'd much prefer over the badger, but it's kinda grown on me, so it stays. I've found stuff that works, and stuff that doesn't, and after one year, I think it's time to make a revised build!
Frame: Armattan Badger - It's definetly getting pretty old by now, and as I said before, there is a lot of better frames out there nowadays, but I couldn't bring myself to replace something that has carried me through the first hundereds or thousands of beginner crashes and mistakes, without any major complications. Only ever broke four or five arms, still going really well
Motors: IFlight Xing 2208 2450KV - I started to despise the BR2205 I had previously, as there was always at least one issue with them, no matter what I did. But at the point I finally decided to upgrade them to actual quality motors about ~4-5 months in, I already had a decent backlog of 4s batteries that were still flyable. I wouldve gone 6s for sure if it wasnt for me being cheap and not wanting to upgrade the rest of my gear too, but that slowly happenned anyway. Now it's just a mildly expensive mistake where I didnt consider futureproofing, but still these motors are performing absolutely well. Through many crashes they never even stuttered, definetly would go with Xings again
Camera: Foxeer Razer Mini - Still one of the best "budget" cams one year later. Good image quality, good latency, and most importantly, a good price. Only ever broke one because of crappy exploding props knocking off parts of the sensor, it's held up great, and I wouldn't use anything other if I can
Flight Controller: HGLRC Zeus F722 - A fine replacement for the original Mamba F4050 Mk1 that finally died after 8 months when the USB port got knocked off in a crash. At the time, there was a crazy sale for the Zeus, and so I got it. Only after people started getting them with faulty components two, three, four times in a row, I realized why it was so cheap. I have no idea how this happened, but mine has been fine, without any issues. HGLRC apparently fixed these issues, and they have been putting out other great stuff, but this was a misstep back in their old days of other hit and miss components. From me however, it has been holding up great, and the features it includes are great
ESC: IFlight Succex-E 45A - Originally a replacement for (what I thought was) a Mamba ESC that "died". Only after I put it in, I actually noticed that a raceiwre had a cracked trace. Both ESC's were actually fine. I don't regret the purchase, as it's still awesome value, and has held up surprisingly well too. If I already have a colorful FC, might as well get a contrasting colored ESC for it
VTX: AKK X2 Ultimate - Only part of the build that still needs improving, but I haven't gottent to that yet, as money is kinda tight. It works relatively well, but at higher output levels the range and quality is actually worse, because it has little to no filtering whatsoever, so there is a lot of noise. Would've gotten a Rush tank in the future
Receiver: FrSky XM+ - IMO the best receiver for FrSky (or any other compatible systems) out there. Cheap, easy to set up, and really reliable for such a small footprint and "regular" 2.4GHz communication. Can fit anywhere, from a tinywhoop to a 5+" quad. Wouldn't upgrade unless I go with crossfire (which I plan to do very soon hopefully)
LEDs: HGLRC WS2812 - FC had plugs for LED's, and these seemed like the easiest option. They were. Work reliably, are really bright, and they just... work
Also upgraded most of my other gear as well, but I won't really get into much detail there. Got a ToolkitRC M600 V2 to replace an Imax B6AC which has the reputation of detonating LiPos, got proper goggles instead of the boxes I had at first, the O2C is all I'd ever need, and wouldn't spend more on goggles, only real stepup would be DJI.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
