FlatWhoop

Playing around with the NewBeeDrone cockroach frame and some mounting options for whoop-sized boards and VTX. The 1mm carbon X frame gives this option to mount everything upside down. In this configuration even the USB is accessible and the battery can be mounted in either direction.

The BetaFPV 12A whoop board is probably overkill and the 1102 9000kv motors are reasonable on 40mm props and 3-4S, not getting hot at all but this would probably be better as a 2" whoop (if such a thing existed)

A little trimming is necessary with the frame to fit the BetaFPV whoop board's connectors: one of the spars on the inside and a little around one of the mounting studs, neither of which seem to compromise the structure. The Caddx Ant camera fits perfectly between the front rotors with just a little trimming of the support under it to accommodate. You'll need to find some 1mm screws to screw into the mounting holes in the frame.

The bottom needs some protection since the VTX is just hanging out. The RX is just shoved under the X subframe, the mini dipole-T mount in the cockroach is very helpful to keep the antenna secure.

A little electrical tape on the front part of the frame seems to help from fracturing in crashes without adding much weight. I have gone through 3 cockroach frames that break at the front. The battery strap is the rubber band off of a bundle of asparagus from Peru.

Flying performance is very interesting and takes a little getting used-to, but I think I prefer this camera position for fllying whoops.

looks nice. I'm going to do a hdzero on the cockroach frame. would you go to the 13500 kv for a 2s build or still recommend the 9000 kv

the 9000kv is just a little sluggish getting off the ground on 2s with this build, adding the hdzero would definitely need to go with the 13500kv if you're going to stick with 2s, or keep the 9000 and go with 3s.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
