XHover Win 2 - Rebuilding the Diatone GT-R90

My original 2" was a slightly modified Diatone GT-R90. See this build for pics and details... https://rotorbuilds.com/build/10329

There were three big things I wanted to improve on the GT-R90:

First, the frame is a "squished X" so the front and rear motors were very close together, where the distance between left and right motors was much larger. I believe the GT-R90 reaches it's performance potential too early because the rear motors are starved for clean air. I wanted to find a 2" frame in a stretched-X configuration.

Second, I wanted better camera protection. I've never really cared about camera protection before, but I smacked my GT-R90 into a branch at good speed and ruined the camera. All of my other quads have canopies that would have prevented this damage, so I wanted my next 2" frame to have similar protection.

Third. the GT-R90's FC stack is really fragile. I've already broken the original and the spare that came with it. The design is cool, and I like their innovation, it just didn't work out after a couple of 'reasonable' crashes.

Oh, and I really wanted to keep the cost of rebuilding as low as possible. I really didn't want to have to buy any new electronic components other than what I already had on hand.

In the end, transplanting everything in to the XHover Win 2 frame was awesome! There is now soooo much room for clean air to the rear props, a sexy canopy with great camera protection, and I arranged the FC stack to a traditional nylon screw system. The only big modification I needed to make was printing a plate for the top of the stack in order to secure the TBS VTX. The end result is really nice as the stack is very secure and the fragile UFL antenna can be zip-tied to the canopy for extra security. The receiver fits snugly on top of it all and the motor wires are just a bit snug; I didn't even need to extend them.

I listed all of the parts individually, but I really just took my GT-R90 and transplanted all the parts I already had. The only thing I would change is cleaning up the motor wires.

Not yet... I've been flying it a bunch but I haven't recorded anything.  I'll try to remember to record something this week.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
