To be totally honest - I think you'd have a hard time telling the difference unless yuo'd been fling for a LONG time and were very used to a particular style of build. Betaflight accounts for most differences very well in 3.5. I have noticed perhaps a smidge better battery life, though I also find that my props are more prone to damage.

Just swap two wires of the motor, doesn't matter which...

have you tried having the back ones on top and the front ones at the bottom of the main plate?

Not yet, To be completely honest I've found the change to be mostly aesthetic so I would expect any orientation of motors on the latest BetaFlight releases would feel pretty much the same :)
