I was looking to build a light and agile acro practice quad that wasn't loud, that could take a load of impacts and survive!
Having seen Mr Shutterbug and Kabab's videos I was really interested in building a 3" toothpick but using a Caddx Vista so I can make the most of my DJI Goggles. :) So the shopping list developed...
Mr Shutterbug's DJI Digital FPV on a 3 inch Babytooth
Light load 3" motors - Toothpick motors
Best intro to 3 inch toothpicks from KabaFPV
The Caddx Vista de-casing brings obvious disadvantages (fan required to update the Vista with the DJI Assitant due to overheating and no warranty) but brings a good weight saving (~10g) and all the useful packaging benefits.
I worked on a canopy and spacer combination in Fusion 360 to keep things as low profile as possible, which I've popped on thingiverse.com.
This is by far the most fun quad I own now to fly!
Indestructible, long flight times, agile, small kit bag contents, not silly expensive and QUIET!!
I've not really explained the build process, but took a lot of photos to describe it all. Comment if you want any steers!
Maiden flight and first play...
Nice build, thanks for the detailed pictures! What's the dry weight?
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Awesome build!
How is the power and flight time with your 2s 550mah?
Have you tried it with 3s? I wonder how is 5000Kv on a 3s 450mah
