This is my third build, and it's much more refined using the skill I have gained from the first two. I really wanted this build to be neat and clean, functionally and aesthetically, and I succeeded in most areas apart from antenna mounting. When the toothfairy 2 session and antenna mounts come back in stock on fpvcycle I'll definitely get them. Currently I don't have an action camera mount and have been using a camera couch + battery strap for the 1 flight I got in before it crashed into water.
When it crashed into water it survived, but the runcam 5 orange on board didn't. So from now on I'm conformal coating all my builds.

Building this quad was a bit difficult, as you might be able to see the stack has less than 1mm of clearance due to the 15mm build height. Since I'm running analogue and this frame was meant to have a caddx vista as part of the frame's structure, I had to get a bit creative with the vtx mounting and ended up using nylon spacers and making it part of the standoffs. It works well, but I'm not sure how durable it will be.

Speaking of durability, it definitely isn't a bando basher with its thin little arms but the light weight is going to mean components are going to have less momentum going into crashes, hopefully meaning they will survive more. In addition, the camera is recessed very far and surprisingly you can only slightly see the camera plates in the video feed. My main issue with this build right now is that there are no nearby standoffs to ziptie the xt60 to, so I'll just have to use 2 battery straps and hope the battery doesn't eject, which hasn't happened yet.
Also, this flight controller has the ICM42688P gyro which is known to be faulty on other flight controllers. But for me it flies great, and doesn't have any issues. Edit: Nevermind, you can't lower the filters below default, or it gets these weird mid throttle oscillations every now and then. Luckily it flies very well on default filters.

The flight feel of a quad like this is quite interesting, it's like a normal 5 inch mixed with a big toothpick, and I really like it. It also has 6-8 minute flight times while ripping, and is quite a bit quieter than a normal 5 inch.

AUW: 355g with 1300mah 4s battery, 410g with an added runcam 5 orange.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
