Well, it' a R/C car and it ain't got rotors...but the wheels come close on full speed.
I just want to share the idea of using FPV equipment for funny other things, like a FPV-RC-car.
And here is how it looks to sit inside a RC car...
I already had this Traxxas Sledge and a redundant DJI FPV system, so let's combine them.
The biggest problem was the position of the camera. I definitively wanted to place it inside the car to do all the bashing this car is capable for, without killing the FPV equipment. I guess, the roof of the car was designed "chopped" for optical reasons and normally it doesn't matter at all, but in this case it is root of a problem to get an usable feld of view. So I tried my best to place the camera as high as possible. The result is not perfect, but you can drive FPV!
Due the lack of a 3D printer I made the adapter of aluminum, added a heatsink and a small fan, that's it more or less.
First I installed a bigger fan, but it turned out as a bad idea to have the fan standing over the mounting plate (got crushed in a hard roof landing).
The second attempt with a 25 mm fan worked better and the cooling power still is more than enough.
For the power supply I already installed a BEC with 7.4 V for the servo, which is powerfull enough to also supply the airunit.
I used a 1 mm thick sheet of polycarbonate for the windshield and fixed it with hotmelt.
The field of view is not perfect, but with a little training it's definitively possible to drive this car FPV. In rough terrain with jumps ist's hard not to loose the orientation but after some training it's getting better and I'm pretty satisfied with this upgrade.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
