This build is actually an upgrade to a previous quad I had made. I built a 130 shrieker about a year ago. But some parts were beginning to fail, and I wanted a bigger quad!
The motors, ESCs, receiver, and batteries are from the old quad, but everything else is new. I picked the Floss for its top-mounted battery, and it’s lightweight design. I was intrigued by the concept of a VTX integrated into an FC, so decided to give the F4 V5 Pro a shot. My old build had bulky VTX, FC, PDB, and MinimOSD, so this one should have much less wires and weight, not to mention the advantages of the BetaFlight OSD and current sensing!
My traditional Aikon ESCs may look weird on the twig arms, but that remains to be seen.
I am particularly interested with how the camera I selected will perform. Though quite cheap, reviewers have noted that its design is virtually identical to that of the RunCam Micro Swift, and have praised its image quality. I sure hope they are right.
I estimate the weight with battery will be somewhere between 260 and 270 grams. At 750 grams of thrust per motor, that’s a thrust to weight ratio of between 11:1 and 11.5:1. More than enough to rip around a field or track...
I’m still waiting on the parts. Can’t wait to start building!
[UPDATE]
I finished building the quad, and it flies like a dream. Had to replace the antenna, though, because I broke it ):
I disabled all filters except the dynamic notch, and reversed motor direction.
I had to cut down the props a bit because they were hitting the carbon...
THIS THING IS SUPER QUIET, but really fast too!
AUW: ~290 grams. It’s kind of heavy, but doesn’t seem to affect how it flies!
I get 3 minutes flight time flying fast with the 850mah pack, but on a 1300, I can cruise for over 7 minutes!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
