UPDATE been flying this beasty on 6s a lot and with the same motors the big issue is over reving the props and causing them to flaten out.. as you hit that point you get very loose control and the back will snap around so throttle management at high speed it critical..
amazing thing is the ORI32.. it hasn't caught fire yet
so this is the rebiuld of my hglrc stacked racing rig.
this mk4 frame was cut by http://bezerk.com.au/shop/index.php and features no arm keys as once they are tighened up they dont move around so its simlpler to have one arm cut that fills all the motor postions.
there is a mk 5 verion of the frame that has a slighty beefer arm with a 16x19 patten ( not the 16x16 is this one does ), pressnuts in the avionics plate ( not the battery plate ) and m3 stand offs at the front.
the reason for moving away from the F440 stack is the first one i had was rock soild, over 100 packs through it, then i completely gutted the qwad in a massive crash that only the motors servied, since then the last 4x 440 escs ive had have all failed in minor crashes with zero physical damage the last falling victim to over use of turtle mode ( my fault i l know )
so ive decided to try the the airbot ori32 and omnibus nano v6 combo, which hasnt been as straight forward as it should have been i have to say with the build and then set up issues taking be the best part of 8 hours..... first issue is the firmware for the new FC is lifted straight from the new fireworks 30x30 stack and it has 2 gyro options.. which means you need to enter the commad in the cli, set gyro_to_use = 1 or ( second in BF 3.4.0 ), if you don't you have no gyro at all and its NOT in the instructions.. second issue is i had to remap the 1 and 4 motors so i could run the esc in the direction i wanted ( pretty easy ). next massive issue is the FC orentation.. its not in the instructions and not obvous on the fc its self.. there is a sort of arrow but it could be pointing in a few directions and combined with me moving the motors it took me hours to work it out so it flys.. on top of that i disabled the accerometer as even when its orentaied the same as the FC they are fighting ( leading me to suspect i have the fc upside down ) and the thing goes nuts on arming. it is sorted now and passed the hallway testflight program witb flying colours.
you may also notice the MASSIVE 50v 1000uf cap.. while not endoresed by airbot the esc is 6s capaible so as i wouldn't mind a little bit of 5s speed on these 2600kv motors i thought i'd set her up from the get go with the right cap to make 4,5 and 6s a non issue.
ohh while not showen ive completly given up on normal battery straps for the raptors as they can only use 15mm straps and they snap when these things pull 9-11g in turns and power on flips so i use releaseable 8mm cable ties.. they are aweome and i haven't had a single battery ejection since
unfortuanlly the weahter has got to the dogs so no maiden this weekend ( or racing )
dry weight is 245g
my mate Carl let me rip one of his 5s packs on raptor with the the completely amazing Gemfan 5149 props .. this is my 4s tune with 5% more tpa added.. holy hell its fast an only needs a little bit of tuning to have it flying perfect.. only issue is given the amp and esc temp numbers i was seeing i think im just going to move it straight to 6s :D ohh this is a near stock betaflight 3.4rc2 tune and how good is winter in sydney
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
