Y tho

This is the first of 2 or 3 planned that will be identical builds that will be built for 6S. A significant amount of racers at the local club in Portland have been switching to 6S with great success, so I'm going to make the switch as well. Theoretically a 1600kv at 4S will turn into 2400kv at 6s. Obviously this is borked logic but oh well, it works. More Esses more RPMs. I wanted to change things up with the 2018 season, so instead of building another Catalyst Merica rig, I decided to try out the Falcon Multirotors Bannilite since I've been hearing some good things about them.

Part Selection

Instead of running the Hobbywing stack like I normally do, I wanted to try out BLHeli32 so I got the Aikon AK32 35A 4in1. With the Hyperlight F4 OSD, a wire harness is provided that makes installation plug-and-play. Unfortunately, the pinouts were screwed up on the first batch of the FC, and it sounds like the second batch is also messed up, but once you get the pins fixed it's just so easy.

On motor selection I was torn between either running EFAW 1800kv or Tmotor F40 pro ii 1600kv. I like Tmotor's build quality and had some issues with thrown magnets on the EFAW 2500kv so I decided to try them out. So far so good. The theory behind prop selection is "gotta go fast," 5152 definitely should do it.

Obviously for racing the crossfire nano is perfect, since I use a crossfire. I was torn between running a TBS Unify Pro Race or trying out the Mach2. Because I didn't do enough research and wanted to try something new, I went with the Mach2. Smartaudio is still borked on them until the next batch, so RIP. RDQ is awesome though so I can wait. MMCX connectors are so much better than UF.L too.

Hey LichFPV, how did you hook the RDQ Mach 2 VTX up? I just ordered one for my 6S build and I noticed that it says "Direct 6S power is not recommended" on the product page.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
