I built this with a few goals in mind.
I used the HGLRC F440 40 amp esc stack for simplicity and growth. The motors will never reach get close to peak draw since this stack can be used 6s and with 5 inch motors. Also, got esc telemetry and smart audio working.
I ran into some issues with the F440 stack. The first one fried. Was replaced by racedayquads. I then broke the second one for being stupid and using dampening bolts between the esc and fc. This caused the pins to break. OOPS. We all learn something new everyday right? They just allowed to much flexing and broke the pins.
First, flight was great. Flew amazing. Tried a few different props out. Using a slightly modified version of the 4S Emax Babyhawk R recomended settings. They can be found here http://emax-usa.com/news/new-pids-for-the-babyhawk-race-3-inch-version/
Hovers at about 28% throttle and screams at 75%. Have not done anything full throttle yet. Will post a video of a recording if I make a decent run this weekend. With the 3076 propellors it sounds like the angriest hornets nest imaginable.
Weighs in at 278 grams at the moment. Conservative thrust per motor is 500 grams. So, pretty wicked thrust to weight ratio.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

im lookin for almost the same build i just wanna add a RUNCAM MICRO SWIFT 3 to get the camera controls in betaflight.. looking forward to see your build!
It turned out great. No complaints other than build issues from being a noob. Need to do some more stuff with betaflight settings because currently only using like 10% processing power with 8k/8k. It can not do 32k sampling it seems.
oh no.. you just cost me at least 300$ now :)... FYI also a noob been flying the Vifly R130 for a while now but i wanna get into building my own stuff. did you get Fport/smartaudio up and running and what about ESC telemetry.. how many UARTs did you have left?
I have smart audio and esc telemetry working. I think that is all of them. But, no expert... Setup for those was easy.
have you thought about a current sensor https://www.hglrc.com/products/pre-order-amass-xt60-current-sensor ?
Yep. It will happen on my next purchase. There is a pad for it.
