QAV CodeRed 3"

3  9  2

My goal here was to build a 3" for proximity flying that is robust and agile on 3s and 4s.

My starting point was CodeRed's "Full Build" video on YouTube, but I wasn't happy with the way the motor wires were routed (around the edges of the ESC) because they did not permit the red side walls to lay flat, so instead I routed the motor wires over the top of the ESC between it and the FC. I also rotated the FC as compared to the build video to provide access to the USB port.

The camera is powered from the 5V output of the TBS Unify, and the TBS Unify and FC are both powered by VBat. The R-XSR is powered by 5V from the FC. SmartAudio is hooked up to UART3 on the FC.

190g dry.

what do u think about 1107 motors with 7500kv as a substitute motor size???

I would not use those motors for a 3”

Nice build man! Did you have any issues with hot motors with the RX1407? I run them on a 3" ducted frame and they run hot no matter what PIDs/Filtering I use it seems.

I run the same motors on a ducted frame as well. They a little warmer than I'd like on the ducted frame, but no issues on this build (using 3S). But then, that ducted frame flies terribly anyway. Was great for learning, but that's about it.
