I race, that's it. I hit gates, the ground, and other quads alot.......I have flown this frame for a year now..... The frame is so hard I have not been able to break it. I have smashed it into a road frome over 80' up and scuffed an arm,(not broken or delaminated, scuffed). When you see the chamfered edges and hold the frame in your hands you will understand. The pod material is some new material that is really tough. Will it break yea but a new pod is less than 20$ on amazon prime! Fast replacement parts for the season check! In a year I have broken 5 pods (Learned to fly fpv in Feb 2018 and purchased this frame in july 2018). Guess what I have not broken, ANYTHING ELSE! The pod does it jobs better than I figured. The pod material I guess will absorb the stresses before they go to the stack and the electronics are safe. So for a year I went through 5 pods(1)slammed into road pod and battery destroyed arm scuffed, 2) Head on crash into another drone pod cracked and cut motor esc wire, 3) Clipped Rebar while flying, pod cracked superglue held till replacement. 4) Hit a tree and sheared the top half of the pod off (noob sauce) camera was ok just unplugged and wires desoldered. 5) mid air wreck pod cracked superglue held to finish day.) and zero on electronics....So really my soldering skills have not improved but man can I turn a wrench LOL!
The electronics listed are really top notch and I am happy with them.
1) Droneart straps are the best I have found, I only use them when I need battery straps. Metal strap lets you really crank down the batteries and grabby stuff to hold it.
2) Mnova vtx is great and customer support is fast and courteous. I have never had any overheating issues which is nice since it does get quite warm in july/aug and I did not have vtx kill.
3) Predator v3 is my favorite camera right now, second micro eagle, third is the caddx f2 turbo.
4) The finx motors are good and strong but amp hungry to the max with the avan R props. 850Mah is not enough for real racing so expect to need a larger battery.
5)The Hakrc ESC are really good and cheap no issues. I have a ready spare that collects dust….
The drone is very light and nimble and the small profile pod punches through the air with ease. I flew and tested a lot of frames before I went with this. The frame flies well and I do not need to soft mount(yes you can soft mount and get more filtering). Stick with a build that has been done or on the drone art website and the build is easy to do. The pod clearance is very tight and you really need to know your stuff if you deviate from the suggested builds. Tx200U will not fit behind predv3 or runcam swift.
The Drone art frame is a work of beauty and must be held to fully experience. I have been really Impressed with Dronearts customer service. Their website and customer service are both top-notch! THANKS JUSTIN FOR ALL THE HELP!
If you are looking for a premium frame that is tough as nails here it is. Here is my advice Since you made it to the end of this wall of text. There is a new pod that is in the works right now with Droneart waiting for that would probably be ideal. It's supposed to have a GoPro mount on top which should help during Turtle mode(aka top fin). if you're in a rush grab the frame and pod now and just know that you may need an extra pod but Amazon Prime is there to help! If you actually know how to fly you may not wreck as many times as I did but if you're trying to learn this frame is an option. My last bit of advice would be that the Finx23 Motors are too amp hungry for an efficient 2 minute run on this build with the props I like. I would say go with more efficient motors like the 2305 Aurora by Droneart which I have on another quad are super efficient and Incredibly powerful again another drone artwork of beauty dripping with class.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
