Just finished building a Hyperlite Floss V1. This is a super light 5" quad with 1407 2722kv motors that only weighs 170g. I do not know what to expect with this setup because most youtube videos that I have seen are people using the 1407 3600kv motors and it looks insanly fast. However, the motors will run hot. Let skip to the end of my build story and tell you how these 2722kv motors performed. This quad is fast but it is NOT a rocket. It does not have the insane instant thrust as I would hope. Right when I did the first test hover I knew it is NOT a jaw dropping bullet because I was surprised how much throttle before I got it to hover (about 30% throttle). I have not done any PID tuning with this test flight, it was all stock Butterflight v3.5.0 settings.
Going back to the build, I made a few changes to the stock hardware that came with the Hyperlite Floss v1.
Updates - Oct 2018
After trying a few different motors combinations, I end up settling with a set of old school T-Motor 1806 2300kv motors that came off a Vortex 285. Even though the 1407 2722kv motor is lighter it did not have enough punch to really move the quad. The 1806 motors had no problems turn a 3 blade HQ V1S 5X4.5X3 5" Props, in fact the motor came down cool after 6 minutes on an 850mah 4s pack. Before going to a larger 1806 motor I did try using a DYS 1407 3600kv motor and I did like the extra KV but the motors were hotter than I would like.
I also flew a friends Floss with Hyperlite 2205 2500KV motor and it did not seem to have a huge difference in performance over the 1806 motors so that is why I will keep using what I have.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
