This thing performs well and doesn't break the bank. I was a big fan of this frame until recently I discovered Space1 has actually started shipping these frames with substantially thinner carbon plates. While some might say it saves weight I managed to snap two arms off in a not very hard crash on grass. So if you have the older version of this frame you will prob get good mileage on it before it breaks but this thinner one isn't worth the trouble now.. <rant: Get it together Space1FPV you had a good thing going! Your frames look good but now break very easy I hope someone there reads this. Not gonna waste money on a carbon fibre frame that might as well be made of cardboard - So put the proper thickness plates back!! /rant> Anyhow if you're just getting into this hobby this is an inexpensive build that flys as good as my best quads just a bit less aggressively powered. This 2 board stack can fit into some tight frames and so even if you went with a different frame you could put these parts into any frame that has the clearance. This setup has just about the ideal weight for a 5inch quad. I personally prefer to use 4in1 esc's in my builds as the jst-sh connections reduce the amount of soldering needed while keeping all the functionality. I find the more time I spend soldering the FC the higher the chances of burning out pads or getting the pcb too hot and losing resistors etc. The majority of the wiring can be bypassed with the jst-sh plugs just ensure to check the pinouts on your FC and ESC because they dont have a standard pinout so may need to grab a bag of jst-sh plugs with wires from RDQ for like $3 and you can pin your own cables for this. Wish someone had told me about that back in the beginning, I dunno how many FCs I buggered up before finding that out. (also avoid lead free solder because it has to be heated much more and thus you can burn out a pad or lose board components from all the extra heat you'll need to work with it) PS the glassy looking carbon on these frames has some sort of sharp edges so battery straps tend to get chopped on high speed flips so get a kevlar battery strap or use two battery straps if you would like to keep your battery safely attached to the rest of the quad. Took me 12 straps and a battery to learn that lesson. I also like to put some dual-lock velcro on all my quads and all my batteries to prevent unwanted separation of battery from quad, keeps the battery from slipping out when things get hairy as well. Sometimes a battery slip can throw the quad out of balance (and out of the sky) so the less battery movement the better. Thats about all the best advice I can give on this build. Not a hard build and easy to keep it tidy. Hardest part of the work was the soldering so if you already have that skill this can be a quick job. If you may be flying around water: the frame leaves the insides a bit exposed. I'd recommend conformal coating the boards and joints to protect them from errant rain or puddles also helps insulate the chips from getting static blasted when you are handling them.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
