After a major crash the bottom frame and a couple of motors needed replacement and so I've rebuilt my Kiss based Chameleon with slighlty revised components. Thanks to Armattan life warranty I have a pretty much brand new quad.
First I've upgraded the lumenier MX2206-9 with Armattan's 2306 Titan and the HS1177 with Runcam Eagle 2. Made modifications to the wiring of the piggy OSD to deal with a problem I had a few times (lost video signal): it's connected directly to the 5V rail on the PDB instead of the TrampHV which remains powered from Vbat. I also added a 470uF cap to deal with voltage drops, see pictures. As for propellers I've tried a number of brands and model and decided to settle on the cyclones 5045.
I've also changed the FC mounting's angle to 90 instead of 180 degrees. This way the board does not press against the rubber connector, the main disadvantage is the usb port is facing backward, but for day to day tuning I can make changes via OSD or LUA so it's not a big deal as KISS releases are very far apart from each other.
Been using an USB microscope that I purchased recently for checking the solerding joints and I'm super happy with it. That said KISS remains (IMHO) a PITA if you want an OSD. All the micro minim variants suck alot of current and tend to overheat, firmware handling and configuration is fairly complicated... Be prepared to spend many many ours on it. Though with the upgraded firmware RC34c (default PIDs) it has a great locked-in feeling (better than RC30) while maintaing a nice smoothness overall. I really like they way it flies. Build is fairly complex, not for beginners.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
