The Y Knot

Built a Flynoceros Y Knot! This thing looked awesome on the Flyno site and is even cooler in person! I'm still in the early stages of tuning but after lowering the stock Betaflight 3.5.6 PIDs it flies ok (on a windy day) with the 6" Gemfan props. The 6" props come very close to the ground in the rear so I may try a mixed setup of 6" bi-blades in the front and 5" tri-blades in the back, because Y Knot?

Some basic around the house first flight videos below. It was really windy out for these flights but I was too excited to wait for a nicer day here in IL. I need to some PID tuning here in the near future. The SpeedyBee Bluetooth adapter seems awesome as I can change any settings by just disarming and opening the phone app! If anyone has any great tuning resources feel free to drop them in the comments!

The amp meter seemed reasonably close to what I expected from my 1500mAh batteries (maybe a little on the low side) and I was able to hit over 120 amps in the DVR below. My first 6 flights ranged from 6 minutes to about 3:30 depending on the throttle. Could probably fly longer if I flew nicer.

This was a fun build and it turned out great! Can't wait to get it all dialed in!

The iFlight XL5 V3 is a fantastic freestyle frame for the price. It features chamfered edges on some very nice quality carbon fiber. My goal for this build was to use high quality components at a relatively low price. Not only that, but I managed to reduce the number of solder points to the bare minimum. I've never built such a plug-in-play quad! The flight controller has an integrated VTX and doesn't..

Update! Happymodel has released a new V2 Frame which uses a more durable plastic. The Happymodel Mobula7 is one of those rare treats to hit the micro scene. Countless models hit the market every month, but this one just happens to check all the boxes. It's a 2S brushless micro with a 75mm motor stance. It's slightly larger than the more traditional 65mm brushed micros, but it's still quite small...
