The ImmersionRC 285 Vortex was my very first race quad that I flew FPV. Since most of the electronics is outdated and I had of lot of extra harware, I thought it would be fun to add some newer hardware to this quad. I am going to save the current FC and Blheli32 stuff for my other quads, so I thought I use some older F4 AIO and Blheli_S ESC here.

The Vortex is a heavy quad and without adding to much more weight, I thought I can lose a little first by removing all the electronics from the original PDB. I took a defective PDB board and removed the SMA connector, Caps, Chips, Connectors and etc. I was kind of suprised to see that all the stuff I removed weighed about 7 grams.

Next, I drill a 30.5x30.5 mount for the DYS F4 Pro Flight Controller. As first I was planning to use individual ESC, but I changed my mind and used a 4 in 1 instead. I was also debating if I wanted to stack the FC and ESC because I have a max space of 19mm to work with. Since I have all this extra space in the front of the quad, I put the FC there instead. Plus, the wires for the Immortal T and VTX was not long enough to reach past the ESC.

More coming soon....

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
