For me the TBS Vendetta is one of the best looking quads out there. So I build one but with some custom electronics superior to the stock ones. Initially I thought this would be also cheaper, but that turned out not to be true. Contained are all original Vendetta II carbon and plastic parts except for the front cover. It features a micro eagle camera with build in control adapter in order to control it with the flight controller from the radio. It sits inside the runcam adapter frame for micro cameras. I had to modify it because otherwise the camera would be to deep sunken in the front cover. It still sits quite deep inside. Therfore the front cover is custom printed with a wider opening. I found it on thingiverse but still had to sand off the inner edges to get a free camera view. The smart audio of the TBS Unify Pro HV is directly connected to the TBS crossfire micro receiver. This way I can setup band, channel, power and pit mode directly from my Taranis. This is better than via flight controller UART when you change the band/channel. And it frees a UART for the GPS unit. The X-Rotor 45A 4-in-1 ESC had to be build in at an angle as it is to wide for the carbon chassis. But because of this the bind button of the TBS crossfire micro receiver underneath it is accessible. On the other side a Vifly Finder 2 fits in nicely. The USB port of the X-Rotor G2 flight controller is accessible. AUW is 437g with AMAXinno 2305 2350KV motors which are super-soft mounted. Each motor sits inside a motor protection which sits on a silicone mat. Each screw is damped on the other side with a silicone ring. As this beauty was quite expensive and a lot of work, I wanted to minimize the risk of loosing it. Therfore the Vifly Finder and a GPS unit. The GPS unit is mounted on top of the chassis. Lucily there is an opening in the chassis for the wire to the flight controller just in the right place.
The quad hovers very smoothly. Due to the rainy weather I had no change yet to fly it ouside. I will report when I did.
I am happy that everything turned out as I wished. Everything can be controlled without the need of taking the tray out of the chassis and it looks - not surprisingly - like a Vendetta.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
