This drone is based on many of the $100 drone builds out there, although you can see from my list here that between upgrading parts and getting tools and additional bits I'll end up somewhat over that goal. I'd like this build to represent what a person of modest means and experience can do.
My goal is to get in the air and learn how the thing works. I'd like to get into aerial photography, although drone racing videos are pretty exciting and racing seems like a great way to learn to fly without risking a more expensive and fragile system.
As you can see from my parts list, I havent yet gotten the FPV camera, tx, or headset yet. A lot of advice I've seen suggests that learning to fly line of sight before transitioning to FPV is a good idea, and since that theory intersects nicely with my budget timeline thats what I'm doing.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
