Smooth flyer. Wanting to softmount motors as these 1106 don't feel the smoothest.
Weight is 125g dry, 190g with 650 3s. I didn't try and save weight on this build, just built it durable. The only interesting mods were the addition of 2 standoffs on top of 2 of the arm bolts. I also drilled the arm mounts out to 3mm from the stock 2mm.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Interesting about softmounting, please tell how it went.
Are you satisfied with motors overall? Quality, throttle control.
I have same size basher that sports 1108/4000kv motors and I'm thinking of trying some lighter ones with higher KV (like yours).
The problem with my motors are they real hungry for the battery (but again, I'm running on 450mah, probably shall upgrade battery first, hehe) and the build quality is not the best.
They are great motors. I've had the 6000s and 7500s. the 7500s on 3s and Gemfan 2.5" were absolute devilishly fast. thy can kill smaller batteries. 650 or bigger is needed. Emax has a newer style of 1106 with no pants that look nice. They also have brand new1108s, 1306 and 1408s. Plenty of small motor options from emax. I think optimal size for 3" is probably the 1306 on 4s.
