As soon as the Marmotte came out I knew I wanted to do something custom with the cage. I don't like mono-plate designs, I wanted something for a micro camera, and I have had good luck in the past doing customizations with the original Chameleon hardware, so I took my Chameleon mod, mashed it up with the new stuff I've been trying in some other frames I've been working on, and spit this thing out in an afternoon. :D Man I love having a CNC!
I'm over the moon happy with how this thing came out. I've had these EFAW motors sitting around for a while and been meaning to save them for something special, so I figured this was it! Also got one of the new Aikon 55A ESCs, so this is a top notch build! Finally got a chance to take it out and put it through it's paces this week and I'm blown away! Probably one of the best quads I've built to date.
UPDATE APRIL 2023:
So I've since done a bit more work on this quad. I upgraded the arm joints to use the same method I used on the QAV-R 2 frames with the center lock and a full bottom plate. I also swapped over to ImmersionRC Ghost and a DJI Vista. I recently updated this frame to Betaflight 4.4 and its absolutely on rails. Still one of my favorite setups years later.
Did you just cut down the existing Marmotte carbon if a big selling point of the frame was that it used space grade carbon?
NOICE Ryan, and fyi to all armattan is now offering either choice of carbon types for purchase AND replaceable arms options :)
interesting, I hadnt seen the replaceable arm one. Do you have a link? I'm curious to see how they execute it.
No I just heard bardwell say it in a livestream since he's moving all his gear over to marmottes from roosters. I only fly strix screeches now 5 & 6", luv them for bout 100g. #poormanshyperlow ;)
