Dingo 5 - First Build

This my first go at building and flying a quad. I flew it LOS for a bit in my backyard but crashed more than I flew. I ordered the Eachine 800D ( in case I hated it for some reason) and flew FPV for the first time a few days ago - I'm hooked.

I had never soldered anything, but was able to get the hang of it pretty quickly and managed not to bork anything. The Dingo 5 was the first thing I purchased and it is pretty small, especially for a first time builder. I spent a very long time planning and testing where all of the components would fit best and managed to squeeze almost everything in. I have no clue where I would fit a buzzer, but I'll find somewhere to stuff one.

I went with the Kakute F7 / Tekko32 4 in 1 ESC for a few reasons. I figured that I would have to solder less with a 4 in 1 vs single ESCs, I like the easy plug and play with the FC, there are tons of pads for extra stuff and lastly I prefer the cleaner aesthetic. The motors are Hyptrains and the camera is the JB Micro Eagle.

For the VTX I'm using a Tramp - be sure to power it via the battery!! I have two Tramps because I thought I burned out the first one.

All in all this has been a blast and I plan on heading out to really fly in the next few days.

Your planning really shows. Very tidy build. Nice components. How does she fly?

Thanks, I really took my time with it. It flies great!! I had my first real sessions yesterday and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. It's amazing how much practising on a sim gets you ready to fly the real thing.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
